Pte Frank Beale
died of wounds at the No 6 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station).
The file does not indicate when he was actually wounded, but the War Diary reports
the last casualties prior to this date were on May 12th when an enemy artillery
barrage wounded 11 men. I would assume that
Pte Beale was wounded at that time and taken to a Field Ambulance for first aid, then
transferred to the CCS where he succumbed to his wounds.

Following the
war the British War Medal, Victory Medal (below), Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny) and Scroll were
sent to his father, Robert Beale, at 505 Cambridge Rd, Bethnel Green, London,

There was no
Memorial Cross issued as his mother had predeceased him.
His brother Reginald survived until November 3 1917 when he was killed
in action
