Arrived at the CBD (Canadian Base Depot) at Havre France

Joined the 21st Battalion in the field 

The Battalion was in billets as part of the Divisional Reserve at Bully Grenay.  While there, they carried out training exercises

 

Apr 12, 1917

Appointed to rank of Lance Corporal to replace L/Cpl L Parker, 59773 who had been invalided to England after the attack at Vimy Ridge

 

Aug 22, 1917

Proceeded on the Bomber’s course, the location is not recorded in the file

 

Sep 11, 1917

Rejoined the Battalion from course

 

Nov 2, 1917       Awarded the Military Medal per London Gazette # 30364


 

This was for his actions during the fighting on the Somme, September 14-18

 

Nov 12, 1917

Received bullet wounds to both thighs and admitted to the Field Ambulance, then transferred to the Casualty Clearing Station.

 

Nov 16, 1917

Transferred to the No 8 General Hospital at Rouen

 

Nov 18, 1917

Reported to be dangerously ill

 

Nov 24, 1917         Died of his wounds while in hospital

  


He is buried in the Bois Guillaume Communal Cemetery Extension at Rouen France
