While in the front line north-west of Neuville Vitasse, France, Private Browne received a shrapnel wound that fractured his left shoulder.  He was evacuated to the No. 2 Canadian Field ambulance for first aid before being transported to the No. 8 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station).  He was then transported to the No. 18 General Hospital in Camiers, France

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Newhaven

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Bath War Hospital in Bath

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Apr 16, 1918

Transferred to the Canadian Convalescent Hospital in Bear Wood, Wokingham.  On admission it was noted that the shrapnel is still in his shoulder and Scabies was added to the diagnosis

 

May 3, 1918

Attached to the 3rd CCD (Canadian Command Depot) for physical training and exercise

Granted 10 days sick leave

 

May 13, 1918

Admitted to the Military Hospital in Londonderry, Ireland while on leave with a diagnosis that reads Ulcer in left eye

 

May 16, 1918

Ceased to be attached to the command depot while in hospital

 

May 17, 1918

Transferred to the Central Military Hospital in Belfast, Ireland
