No reason is recorded for his discharge.  The 55th Battalion sailed the next day from Montreal, Quebec and Private Cormier was not with the battalion.

After leaving the base depot, Private Cormier joined the 21st Battalion in the T and R trenches near Voormezeele, Belgium

 

Jun 27, 1916

While in the front line trenches near Verbrande Molen, Belgium on the Ypres Salient, Private Cormier received a glancing shrapnel wound to his scalp and was evacuated to a field ambulance for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Jan Breydel

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Military Hospital in Edmonton, London

Transferred to the CCAC (Canadian Casualty Assembly Centre) for pay purposes while in hospital
