Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Farrell joined the 21st Battalion in Fosseux, France as part of a draft of 11 reinforcements and was posted to “B” Company

 

Aug 8, 1918

During the liberation of the town of Marcelcave, France, Private Farrell was wounded by a shell fragment that shattered his left arm and was evacuated to the No. 1 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the No. 47 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station).  His arm was amputated 8 inches below the shoulder on his arrival.

Aug 16, 1918

Transferred to the coast via 23 AT (Ambulance Train) and invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Jan Breydel

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the 1st Birmingham War Hospital in Rednal

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

Transferred to the Granville Canadian Special Hospital in Buxton

 

Oct 8, 1918

Transferred to the No. 5 Canadian General Hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool
