Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, EOR (Eastern Ontario Regiment) under the MSA in Kingston, Ontario

Ø  Previous occupation given as Farmer

Ø  No previous military experience given

Ø  Posted to the 3rd Regimental Draft

The 3rd Regimental Draft embarked the SS Melita in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Disembarked in Liverpool, England and proceeded to Seaford where the draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training and was posted to “D” Company

 

Mar 8, 1918

Admitted to the No. 14 Canadian General Hospital in Eastbourne with a diagnosis that reads ICT (Inter Connective Tissue Infection in his neck

 

Mar 17, 1918

Congenital Phimosis was added to the diagnosis

 

Mar 18, 1918

Surgery performed to correct the Phimosis

 

Apr 15, 1918

Discharged from hospital and rejoined the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

 

Aug 9, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Aug 15, 1918

After leaving the base depot, Private Foley joined the 21st Battalion in Fouquescourt, France

 

Aug 28, 1918

During the advance along the Arras – Cambrai Road, Private Foley received a shrapnel wound to his right knee and was evacuated to the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the No. 33 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station)

 

Aug 31, 1918

Transferred via the No. 27 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the No. 3 Australian Hospital in Abbeville, France

 

Sep 12, 1918

Transferred to the coast of the English Channel via the No. 25 Ambulance Train

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship St. Denis

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Queen Alexandra Military Hospital in Millbank, London

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Nov 1, 1918

Transferred to the Canadian Convalescent Hospital in Bear Wood Park, Wokingham

 

Dec 6, 1918

Discharged from hospital and transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

Granted 12 days sick leave and visited Dublin, Ireland

 

Jan 3, 1919

Attached to Military District No. 3 Wing in Kinmel Park, Rhyl, pending return to Canada

 

Jan 19, 1919

Embarked the SS Aquitania in Liverpool

 

 

Jan 25, 1919

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario
