May 7, 1916

While on a work party on the front line trench on the Ypres Salient in Belgium, Private Goodman was partially buried and knocked unconscious by a high explosive shell landing close to him.  He was dug out by his comrades and taken to the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) where he regained consciousness.  He was then transported to the No. 5 Canadian Field Ambulance suffering from Shell Shock

Transferred to the No. 2 Canadian Division Rest Station in Mont des Cats, France

Transferred to the No. 1 Canadian General Hospital in Etaples, France

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Cambria

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the No. 4 London General Hospital, Denmark Hill, London
