After leaving the base depot, Private Gordon joined the 21st Battalion in Gouy Servins, France as part of a draft of 105 reinforcements

While in the front line at Neuville Vitasse, France, Private Gordon was cleaning his rifle when it discharged as a result of not being unloaded prior to cleaning.  He wounded his left hand and was evacuated to the No. 6 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the No. 6 Stationary Hospital in Frevent, France and placed in custody to await a Court Martial

 

May 7, 1918

A Board of Inquiry ordered that he be released from custody without prejudice for lack of evidence to proceed

 

May 25, 1918

Transferred to the No. 10 General Hospital in Rouen, France

 

Jun 26, 1918

Medical Board classified him B2, meaning he was not fit for front line duty. 

 

Jul 16, 1918

Discharged from hospital and reported to the base depot in Rouen

 

Jul 17, 1918

Forfeited 3 day’s pay for “Not complying with an order”.

 

Jul 20, 1918

Reported to the Canadian Infantry Base Depot in Etaples, France and classified TB (Temporary Base), meaning he was to temporarily remain at a base depot because of his wound
