Disembarked in Liverpool, England and the battalion proceeded to Shorncliffe for additional training.

Not long after his arrival in England, the battalion was absorbed into the 39th Reserve Battalion to continue training.

Arrived at the CBD (Canadian Base Depot) in the Rouelles Camp, Havre, France as part of a draft of 44 reinforcements from England and TOS (Taken On Strength) the 21st Battalion. 

Prior to joining the 21st Battalion he was attached to the 2nd Entrenching Battalion in the Halifax Camp, near Reninghelst, Belgium.  While there he was appointed to the rank of Acting Sergeant

Awarded the Good Conduct Badge

 

Sep 1, 1917

Joined the 21st Battalion in billets in Villers au Bois and reverted to the rank of Private

 

Oct 17, 1917

Appointed to the rank of Lance Corporal to replace Lance Corporal G.D. Gill, 210371, who had been promoted

Granted 10 days leave

 

Dec 19, 1917

Promoted to the rank of Corporal to replace Corporal K.C. Hopkinson 59479, who had been promoted

 

Aug 9, 1918

Invalided sick to England aboard the Hospital Ship Carisbrook Castle

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) while in hospital 

This was followed by him returning to Canada and being discharged.

Following the war the British War Medal and Victory Medals were sent to him.

Died of Cellulitis while a patient in the Nicholls Hospital, Peterborough, Ontario, and buried in the Christ Church Cemetery, Campbellford, Ontario
