Embarked the SS Lapland in Halifax, Nova Scotia as part of the 1st Regimental Draft of the 2nd Depot Battalion, EOR

 

 

Feb 24, 1918

Disembarked in Glasgow, Scotland and proceeded to Seaford, England where the draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training.  On arrival at the 6th Reserve Battalion, he reverted to the rank of Private

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 11, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 17, 1918

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Aug 7, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Jodoin joined the 21st Battalion west of Marcelcave, France

 

Aug 28, 1918

During the advance along the Arras – Cambrai Road towards the Canal du Nord, Private Jodoin received shrapnel wounds to his right leg and right hand.  He was evacuated to a field ambulance for first aid then transferred to a casualty clearing station

 

Aug 29, 1918

Transferred to the No. 12 Stationary Hospital in St. Pol, France

He was transferred the same day via the No. 23 AT (Ambulance Train) to the coast to board a hospital ship

 

Aug 31, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Newhaven

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the 3rd Western General Hospital in Cardiff, Wales

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Oct 1, 1918

Transferred to the Newport Wing for surgery on his right hand

 

Jan 16, 1919

Transferred to the Granville Canadian Special Hospital in Buxton

X-Ray shows the fracture to the index finger of his right hand

 

 

Feb 26, 1919

Discharged from hospital and transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

Granted 10 days sick leave

 

Apr 14, 1919

Medical exam in Seaford notes a marked deformity in the index finger of his right hand from a shrapnel wound. The grip in his right hand is weakened, but somewhat useful.  The middle finger is unable to be flexed.

 

Apr 23, 1919

Transferred to Military District No. 3 Wing in Kinmel Park, Rhyl pending return to Canada

 

May 11, 1919

Embarked the SS Saturnia in Glasgow, Scotland

 

 

May 21, 1919

Disembarked in Montreal, Quebec and proceeded to Ottawa, Ontario

 

May 22, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Ottawa, Ontario

Ø  Rank on discharge Private

Ø  War Service Badge Class “A” issued number 101935

Ø  Proposed residence on discharge Ottawa, Ontario

Following his discharge, the British War Medal and Victory Medals were sent to him at Billings Bridge, Ontario

May 19, 1985

Hyacinthe Jodoin died of cancer in hospital and was buried in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario
