Disembarked in Liverpool, England

Following his arrival in England he was transferred to the 39th Reserve Battalion for additional training

 

Nov 2, 1916

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Nov 3, 1916

Arrived at the CBD (Canadian Base Depot) in the Rouelles Camp, Havre, France as part of a draft of 134 reinforcements from England and was TOS (Taken On Strength) the 21st Battalion.

Shortly after arriving in France, he proceeded to the 2nd Entrenching Battalion in Hersin

 

Jan 11, 1917

Appointed to the rank of Acting Lance Corporal with pay while attached to the 2nd Entrenching Battalion

 

Apr 16, 1917

Joined the 21st Battalion in support trenches between Mont Saint Eloi and Neuville St Vaast.  On arrival he was returned to the rank of Private

 

Sep 1, 1917

Attached to the 4th CTMB (Canadian Trench Mortar Battery) for duty

 

Sep 14, 1917

Rejoined the 21st Battalion from the 4th CTMB

 

Apr 8, 1918

SOS (Struck Off Strength) the 21st Battalion on being transferred to the 24th Company, CFC (Canadian Forestry Corps)

At this point I lose track of his military service, however he survived the war and returned to Canada for discharge.

 

Mar 15, 1940

The 1940 Voter’s List shows him living at 3831 St. Dominique Street with Louis and Mary Leizerman.  Jacob’s occupation is shown as Shoemaker

 

Jun 7, 1949

Jacob Kurr died of Cardiac Arrest in Montreal, Quebec and was buried in the Baron de Hirsch – De la Savane Cemetery, Montreal.

His widow, Minnie Kurr, is noted as living at 5572 Clarke St., Montreal, Quebec
