Arrived at the CBD (Canadian Base Depot) in the Rouelles Camp, Havre, France as part of a draft of 128 reinforcements from England and Taken On Strength the 21st Battalion

After leaving the base depot, he joined the 2nd Canadian Entrenching Battalion in the Halifax, Camp near Brandhoek, Belgium as part of a draft of 4 reinforcements destined to join the 21st Battalion

During the capture of Vimy Ridge in France, Private Lang received a severe shrapnel wound to his left hand and was evacuated to a field ambulance for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station for treatment

Transferred to the No. 7 Canadian General Hospital in Etaples

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Stad Antwerpen

 

On arrival in England he was admitted to the Duchess of Connaught Canadian Red Cross Hospital in Taplow

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

Medical Board in Taplow notes that his left hand has impaired function and declare him fit for permanent base duty only

Transferred to the CAMCRD (Canadian Army Medical Corps Regimental Depot) and posted to the Duchess of Connaught Canadian Red Cross Hospital for duty as a hospital employee
