The 1st Regimental Draft left Ottawa for Halifax, Nova Scotia

Embarked the SS Lapland in Halifax, Nova Scotia as part of the 1st Regimental Draft of the 2nd Depot Battalion, EOR

 

 

Feb 24, 1918

Disembarked in Glasgow, Scotland and proceeded to Seaford, England where the draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training

 

Jun 10, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 11, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 17, 1918

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Jun 23, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Ledgerwood joined the 21st Battalion resting in Bretencourt, France

 

Sep 26, 1918

During the night of September 25/26, the 21st Battalion was being relieved from the support line when Private Ledgerwood received shrapnel wounds to his shoulder and right leg.  He was evacuated to the 2/1 London Field Ambulance for first aid before being transported to the No. 23 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station

While at the casualty clearing station, surgery was performed to remove the top 3 inches of the right humerus bone leaving him with an arm that flails about with no connection to the shoulder.

 

Sep 28, 1918

Transferred via the No. 6 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the No. 13 General Hospital in Boulogne, France

 

Sep 29, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship St. David

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the No. 15 Canadian General Hospital in Taplow, the Duchess Of Connaught Red Cross Hospital

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Nov 13, 1918

Transferred to the No. 5 Canadian General Hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool

 

Dec 13, 1918

Embarked the Hospital Ship Essequibo in Liverpool

 

 

Dec 20, 1918

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario where he was Taken On Strength Military District No. 3

 

Dec 22, 1918

Admitted to the Queen’s University Military Hospital in Kingston

 

Dec 23, 1918

Granted leave until January 6, 1919

Discharged to duty from hospital

 

May 12, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario
