Born in Ireland

 

Nov 5, 1914

Attested into the 21st Battalion in Kingston, Ontario 

Ø      Number 59599

Ø      Next of kin given as Mrs. Logan, 12 Dowd St., Montreal, Quebec

Ø      Assigned to 11 Platoon, “E” Company

o       This was later reorganized into “C” Company 

The battalion trained in the Kingston area through the winter with headquarters in the Kingston Armouries 

Appointed as QMS (Quartermaster Sergeant) of the left half of the battalion housed in the Cereal building

 

May 6, 1915

Embarked the RMS Metagama in Montreal, Quebec

 

May 15, 1915

Disembarked in Devonport, England and the battalion proceeded to the West Sandling Camp, near Hythe, Kent to continue training

 

Aug 31, 1915

Reported to be AWL (Absent Without Leave)

 

Sep 8, 1915

Reported for duty from being absent

 

Sep 9, 1915

Forfeited 10 days pay for his absence 

Reverted to rank of Private at his own request

 

Sep 14, 1915

Embarked the St. Seiriol in Folkestone

 

Sep 15, 1915

Disembarked in Boulogne, France and the battalion proceeded to St. Omer

 

Nov 22, 1915

Appointed to the rank of Lance Corporal with pay to replace L/Cpl Whitelaw 60058 who had been invalided to England with Trench Feet

 

Feb 10, 1916

Granted 9 days leave

 

Mar 28, 1916 Patrick Logan wrote a letter home to his wife that turned out to be his last


This was followed a short time later by a letter from  the brigade Chaplain, Capt R.C. MacGillivray

 

Mar 29, 1916

Lance Corporal Patrick Logan was killed by an enemy rifle grenade while in the front line N & O trenches near Voormezeele, Belgium

He was buried in the Ridgewood Military Cemetery, Voormezeele, Belgium

Following the war the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Plaque (Dead Man's Penny), Scroll and Memorial Cross were sent to his family
