Disembarked in Liverpool, England and the draft was absorbed into the 7th Reserve Battalion in Seaford to continue training

Transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

 

Aug 9, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

Arrived at the No. 2 CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

After leaving the base depot, Private Manning joined the 21st Battalion in Fouquescourt, France

 

Oct 11, 1918

During the liberation of the town of Iwuy, France, Private Manning received a machine gun bullet wound to his left leg and was evacuated to the No. 9 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance)

Transferred to the No. 22 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station)

 

Oct 13, 1918

Transferred via the No. 23 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the No. 22 General Hospital in Camiers, France

 

Oct 14, 1918

When the left leg became infected with gas gangrene, an amputation was performed above the knee

 

Oct 25, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Brighton

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Fairfield Court VAD Hospital in Eastbourne

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Nov 14, 1918

A further amputation was performed to remove more of his left thigh

 

Dec 11, 1918

Transferred to the No. 14 Canadian General Hospital in Eastbourne

 

Dec 27, 1918

Transferred to the Granville Canadian Special Hospital in Buxton

Transferred to the No. 5 Canadian General Hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool

Embarked the Hospital Ship Essequibo in Liverpool

Disembarked in Portland, Maine, USA and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario where he was Taken On Strength of Military District No. 3 Casualty Company

On arrival in Kingston, he was admitted to the Queen’s University Military Hospital
