The 11th Regimental Draft embarked the SS Ajana in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Disembarked in Liverpool and transferred to the 1st Reserve Battalion.  The draft was placed in the Segregation Camp in Seaford to ensure there were no cases of influenza in the group.

Discharged from the segregation camp and joined the 1st Reserve Battalion in Seaford

Transferred to the 29th Battalion

 

Sep 14, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 29th Battalion

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CCRC (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

While still at the reinforcement camp and before he could join the 29th at that front, he was diverted and transferred to the 21st Battalion

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Mawson joined the 21st Battalion on the Hindenburg Support line, just west of Inchy-en-Artois, France

 

Oct 11, 1918

During the liberation of the town of Iwuy, France, Private Mawson received shrapnel wounds to his back and was evacuated to a field ambulance for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station

 

Oct 13, 1918

Transferred to the No. 26 General Hospital in Etaples, France

 

Oct 15, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Stad Antwerpen

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Warden House Auxiliary Hospital in Deal

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Dec 28, 1918

Transferred to the Military Hospital in Shorncliffe

 

Jan 3, 1919

Transferred to the Canadian Red Cross Hospital in the Cooden Camp, Bexhill

 

Jan 14, 1919

Discharged from hospital and  transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

Granted 10 days sick leave

 

Feb 8, 1919

Transferred to Military District No. 11 Wing in Kinmel Park, Rhyl pending return to Canada

Embarked the SS Scotian in Liverpool

Disembarked in Saint John, New Brunswick and proceeded to Regina, Saskatchewan where he was Taken On Strength Military District Depot No. 12 and posted to the Casualty Company

Leonard Mawson died while a patient of the Veteran’s Hospital, Vancouver, British Columbia and was buried in the Field of Honour, Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver
