Embarked the SS Lapland in Halifax, Nova Scotia as part of the 1st Regimental Draft of the 2nd Depot Battalion, EOR

Disembarked in Glasgow, Scotland and proceeded to Seaford, England where the draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training

 

Feb 25, 1918

Reverted to the rank of Private as being surplus to Establishment

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 11, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Jun 23, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Moore joined the 21st Battalion resting in Bretencourt, France and was posted to “D” Company

 

Aug 28, 1918

While advancing on the south side of the Arras – Cambrai Road south-east of Vis-en-Artois, France, Private Moore was wounded in his left leg and evacuated to the No. 8 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station

 

Aug 29, 1918

Transferred to the No. 7 Canadian General Hospital in Etaples, France

 

Sep 1, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Newhaven

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Auxiliary Hospital in Tranmere, Birkenhead, a part of the 1st Western General Hospital in Liverpool

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Oct 4, 1918

Transferred to the Princess Patricia Canadian Red Cross Hospital in the Cooden Camp, Bexhill

 

Jan 15, 1919

Discharged from hospital care and reported to the Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot and posted to the Casualty Company in Seaford

Granted 10 days sick leave

 

Mar 13, 1919

Medical exam in Seaford notes his bullet wound to the left leg and also notes that his vision is slightly impaired.  The defective vision was determined to be genetic and existed prior to enlistment

Transferred to Military District No. 3 Wing in Kinmel Park, Rhyl pending return to Canada

Embarked the SS Belgic in Liverpool

 

 

Apr 23, 1919

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Ottawa, Ontario where he was Taken On Strength of Military District No. 3 Sub Depot

 

Apr 25, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Ottawa, Ontario

Ø  Rank on discharge Private

Ø  War Service Badge Class “A” issued number 231761

Ø  Proposed residence on discharge Kemptville, Ontario

Following his discharge, the British War Medal and Victory Medals were sent to him at Post Office Box 23, Kemptville, Ontario

William John Moore died in 1941 and was buried in the Shanly Cemetery, Shanly, Ontario
