After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Murphy joined the 21st Battalion west of Marcelcave, France

During the liberation of the town of Iwuy, France, Private Murphy received a shrapnel wound to his right leg and was evacuated to a field ambulance for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station

 

Oct 14, 1918

Transferred to the No. 5 General Hospital in Rouen, France

 

Oct 16, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Western Australia

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the No. 15 Canadian General Hospital in Taplow

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

Granted 10 days sick leave

Transferred to the No. 5 Canadian General Hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool
