Attached to the 119th Battalion in Witley for duty

Arrived at the No. 2 CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France as part of a draft of 1,498 reinforcements from England and TOS (Taken On Strength) the 21st Battalion

After leaving the base depot he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Calonne Ricouart, France as part of a group of 98 reinforcements destined to join the 21st Battalion

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Oldham joined the 21st Battalion in the front line near Mercatel, France and was assigned to “B” Company

Awarded the Good Conduct Badge

 

Aug 28, 1918

During the battalion’s advance on the Sensee River, south-east of Vis-en-Artois, France, Private Oldham received a shrapnel wound to his left knee and was evacuated to the No. 5 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the CCS (Casualty Clearing Station) for further treatment.

Transferred to the No. 26 General Hospital in Etaples for further treatment

 

Aug 31, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Princess Elizabeth

 

 
On arrival in England he was admitted to the 2nd Western General Hospital in Manchester

 
Posted to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

Transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital in Woodcote Park, Epsom

 

Oct 23, 1918

Attached to the 1st CCD (Canadian Convalescent Depot) to continue his recovery and to undergo remedial gymnastics

Discharged from the convalescent depot and posted to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

Attached to Kimmel Park, Rhyl pending his return to Canada
