Ø  Previous occupation given as Moulder

Ø  Previous military experience given as 80th Battalion CEF (I could find no record of this)

Ø  Posted to the 4th Regimental Draft

He signed his documents with an “X” and noted as “his mark”

The depot’s 4th draft embarked the SS Toloa in Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

 

Apr 28, 1918

Disembarked in England and proceeded to Seaford where the entire draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training

 

Sep 26, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Sep 27, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Sep 28, 1918

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Oct 3, 1918

While still at the reinforcement camp, and before he could join the 21st Battalion at the front, he was transferred to the 44th Battalion

 

Oct 6, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Ostrom joined the 44th Battalion west of Douai, France

Admitted to the No. 12 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) with a diagnosis that reads Impetigo

 

Nov 18, 1918

Transported to the No. 57 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station)

 

Nov 25, 1918

Transferred via the No. 16 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the No. 25 General Hospital in Hardelot, France

 

Dec 3, 1918

Discharged to the No. 10 Convalescent Depot in Boulogne, France

 

Dec 6, 1918

Joined the Canadian Infantry Base Depot in Etaples

 

Dec 8, 1918

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Dec 23, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Ostrom rejoined the 44th Battalion in billets in Forville, Belgium

Embarked in Havre, France and disembarked in Southampton, England and proceeded to Bramshott where he was posted to “E” Wing pending return to Canada

Embarked the Empress of Britain in Liverpool

Disembarked in Quebec City, Quebec and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario where he was Taken On Strength of Military District No. 3

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario

Ø  Proposed residence on discharge Belleville, Ontario

Following his discharge, the British War Medal and Victory Medals were sent to him at 130 Catherine St., Belleville, Ontario
