During the
advance on Vimy Ridge, he was killed in action
He was buried
near where he fell. At the end of the war,
the Graves Registration Commission attempted to relocate all of the battlefield burials
into more organized cemeteries. The
exhumation party could not locate Pte Pardoe’s remains. This was likely the result of the area being
shelled for over a year after his burial, meaning that the ground was constantly being
churned up by exploding shells.
In 1929 his
widow was informed that he would be commemorated on the Vimy Ridge Memorial
Following the
war the British War Medal, Victory Medal, Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny), Scroll and
Memorial Cross were sent to his widow at 199 Ronan Ave, Toronto Ontario
A second
Memorial Cross was sent to his mother, Mrs AE Pardoe, at 28 North Main St, Niagara Falls
Ontario
