Embarked the RMS Metagama in Montreal, Quebec

 

 

May 15, 1915

Disembarked in Devonport, England and the battalion proceeded to the West Sandling Camp, near Hythe, Kent to continue training

Embarked the St. Seiriol in Folkestone

 

 

Sep 15, 1915

Disembarked in Boulogne, France and the battalion proceeded to St. Omer

 

Oct 29, 1915

While in the front line trench on the Ypres Salient near Voormezeele, Belgium, the 21st Battalion came under an enemy artillery barrage and our own artillery responded.  Unfortunately, one of our own shells fell short and killed one man and wounded 3 others.  One of those wounded was Private Price as he received shrapnel wounds to his left side, arm and his head.  He was evacuated to the No. 2 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station) for first aid

 

Oct 30, 1915

Transferred via the No. 17 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the No. 1 Canadian General Hospital in Etaples, France

 

Nov 1, 1915

X- Ray shows 2 pieces of shrapnel present in his left hip and were removed by surgery

 

Nov 3, 1915

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Newhaven

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to Bevan Military Hospital in Sandgate

Transferred to the 39th Reserve Battalion for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Nov 25, 1915

Transferred to the Shorncliffe Military Hospital

 

 

 

Jan 5, 1916

Discharged to duty and transferred to the CCAC (Canadian Casualty Assembly Centre) in Shorncliffe for base duty

 

Mar 8, 1916

Attached to the 39th Reserve Battalion in West Sandling

 

Jan 4, 1917

Transferred to the newly formed 6th Reserve Battalion in West Sandling.  Shortly after the battalion’s formation, it moved to Seaford to train reinforcements for the front

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) and remained attached to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford for duty

Attached to the OTB (Officer’s Training Battalion) for duty
