The first Regimental Draft of the 76th Battalion boarded a train at Toronto Ontario for Montreal Quebec

 

Oct 1, 1915

Embarked the SS Scandinavian at Montreal Quebec

 

 

Oct 10, 1915

Disembarked at Portsmouth England and proceeded to the West Sandling Camp where the draft was absorbed into the 39th Reserve Battalion

 

Feb 19, 1916

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Feb 21, 1916

Disembarked in France and proceeded to the CBD (Canadian Base Depot) at the Rouelles Camp, Havre 

TOS (Taken On Strength) the 21st Battalion

 

Mar 11, 1916

Left the CBD to join his unit

 

Mar 12, 1916

Joined the 21st Battalion which was in the process of being relieved from the N & O Front Line Trenches and proceeding to Divisional Reserve Billets at La Clytte

 

Jul 2, 1916

Admitted to the No 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) with a sprained left ankle.  He was transferred the same day to the No 5 CFA

 

Jul 5, 1916

Transferred to the No 2 Divisional Rest Station

 

Jul 11, 1916

Discharged to duty from the Rest Station

 

Sep 28, 1916            Below is from the 21st Battalion War Diary. 

 

It was during this action that Pte Rae was recommended for the Military Medal.

 

Oct 14, 1916

Admitted to the No 3 General Hospital at Le Treport diagnosis reading PUO (Pyrexia of Unknown Origin).  This is a fever without a known cause

 

Nov 2, 1916

Transferred to No 3 Convalescent Depot at Le Treport 

 

Nov 14, 1916

Discharged from hospital to the CBD at Havre for light duties

 

Nov 16, 1916

Left the CBD to join the 2nd Entrenching Battalion

 

Nov 22, 1916

Joined the 2nd Entrenching Battalion at Hersin

 

Dec 21, 1916

Awarded the Military Medal per the London Gazette #29873

 

 

 

Apr 16, 1917

Left the 2nd Entrenching Battalion and joined the 21st Battalion who had just moved into the Support Trench near Vimy Ridge

Admitted to the No 13, Field Ambulance with a shrapnel wound to his right buttock.  He was transferred the same day to the CCS (Casualty Clearing Station) at Aubigny
