It was during this raid that L/Cpl Rattray was recommended for the Military Medal

 

Aug 29, 1918

During the Battalion’s advance on the Hindenburg Line L/Cpl Rattray received shrapnel wounds to his left wrist and forearm. After initial treatment, at the RAP (Regimental Aid Post) and at a Field Ambulance, he was admitted to the No 12 Stationary Hospital then transferred the same day via the No 23 AT (Ambulance Train)  

On this same date it was announced that he had been awarded the Military Medal per London Gazette #30873

Posted to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) while in hospital
