After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Riou joined the 21st Battalion east of Arras, France

During the liberation of Iwuy, France, Private Riou received a through and through bullet wound to his left arm and was evacuated to the No. 9 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station

Transferred to the No. 18 General Hospital in Camiers, France

 

Oct 18, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital ship Stad Antwerpen

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Royal Hubert Hospital in Woolwich, London

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Oct 22, 1918

Transferred to the Horton County of London War Hospital in Epsom

 

Nov 21, 1918

Transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital in Woodcote Park, Epsom

 

Dec 16, 1918

Attached to the 1st CCD (Canadian Command Depot) in Witley for therapy and exercise

Granted 10 days sick leave

 

Jan 7, 1919

Discharged from hospital care and transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford
