trench raid on the German lines near Calonne Ricouart, France. When the raid was completed, and the troops
were returning to their own lines, a shell landed nearby and killed Private Saul. He was later buried in the Maroc British
Cemetery, Grenay, France
Following the war, the British War Medal, Victory
Medal, Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny), Scroll and Memorial Cross were sent to his
widow, Mrs. Martha Saul, 212 Hamilton St., Toronto, Ontario
