After leaving the base depot, Private Scott
joined the 21st Battalion in the N & O trenches near
Voormezeele, Belgium

|
While the battalion was in the front line trench
south of Arras, Private Scott received shrapnel wounds and was evacuated
first to a field ambulance for first aid before being transported to the No.
9 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station) where he died of his wounds.
He was buried in the nearby Contay British
Cemetery, just south of the village of Contay, France
Following the war, the 1914-15 Star, British War
Medal, Victory Medal, Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny) Scroll, and Memorial Cross
were sent to his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Scott, Picton, Ontario
