The 3rd Regimental Draft embarked the SS Melita in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Disembarked in Liverpool, England and proceeded to Seaford where the draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training

 

Aug 9, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Aug 15, 1918

After leaving the base depot, Private Sears joined the 21st Battalion in Fouquescourt, France

 

Aug 27, 1918

While advancing south of the Arras – Cambrai Road just east of Vis en Artois, France, Private Sears received a shrapnel wound to his face that fractured his lower jaw and knocked out several teeth.  He was evacuated to a nearby field ambulance for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station

 

Aug 30, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Pieter de Coninck

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Reading War Hospital

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Oct 19, 1918

Transferred to the Queen Mary’s Sidcup Hospital, London

 

Oct 29, 1918

Transferred to the No. 16 Canadian General Hospital (Ontario Military Hospital) in Orpington

 

Dec 12, 1918

Transferred to the No. 5 General Hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool

 

Dec 29, 1918

Embarked the Hospital Ship Araguaya in Liverpool

 

 

Jan 10, 1919

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario where he was Taken On Strength of Military District No. 3

 

Jan 13, 1919

Admitted to the Queen’s University Military Hospital in Kingston
