There is no mention in the service file as to when he was wounded, however, the 21st Battalion was involved in heavy combat during the capture of Iwuy, France on this date.  It is likely when Private Seip received a glancing scalp wound and evacuated to a field ambulance for first aid before being transported to a casualty clearing station
