Disembarked in Liverpool, England and proceeded to Witley where the draft was absorbed into the 4th Reserve Battalion

Admitted to the No. 12 Canadian General Hospital in Bramshott with a diagnosis that reads Inflamed Gall Bladder

Discharge to duty from hospital

Transferred to the 1st Battalion

 

Sep 23, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 1st Battalion

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CCRC (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Sep 29, 1918

Before he could join the 1st Battalion at the front, he was transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Oct 2, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Shaw joined the 21st Battalion south – west of Bourlon, France and was posted to “D” Company

 

Dec 13, 1918

The 21st Battalion led the 2nd Canadian Division across the Bonn Bridge to enter Germany as part of the Occupying Force and proceeded to Sieburg

 

 

Mar 9, 1919

Proceeded to Namur, Belgium on Guard Duty

 

Apr 3, 1919

When the battalion proceeded to England, Private Shaw was transferred to the Canadian Records List in Havre, France

 

Apr 9, 1919

Proceeded to England and transferred to “M” Wing in Witley pending return to Canada

 

May 13, 1919

Admitted to the Military Convalescent Hospital in Woodcote Park, Epsom with a diagnosis that reads NYD (Not Yet Determined).  This was later changed to read Bubo, a gland infection

Discharged to duty from hospital

 

Jul 2, 1919

Embarked the SS Olympic in Southampton

 

 

Jul 9, 1919

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario

 

Jul 12, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario

John Wesley Shaw died in Leamington, Ontario of Acute Pancreatitis.  His death was considered to be a result of his front line service and a Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny) was sent to his father James W. Shaw, 139 Talbot St. W., Leamington, Ontario.  A Memorial Cross was sent to his mother, Mrs. Mary Shaw, at the same address

 

He was buried in the Lakeview Cemetery Leamington
