After leaving the base depot, he joined the CCRC (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Sheppard joined the 21st Battalion on the south side of the Arras – Cambrai Road, south east of Vis en Artois, France and was posted to “B” Company

While out on a work party near Buissy, France, Private Sheppard received wound to his left arm and was evacuated to the No. 9 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid.  He was then transported to the No. 33 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station)

 

Sep 15, 1918

Transferred via the No. 23 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the No. 53 General Hospital in Boulogne, France

 

Sep 19, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Pieter de Coninck

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Barnet War Hospital in High Barnet, London

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Oct 15, 1918

Transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital in Woodcote Park, Epsom

 

Oct 30, 1918

Discharged from hospital and attached to Kinmel Park, Rhyl pending return to Canada
