Transferred to the No. 22 CCS (Casualty Clearing
Station) for further treatment and placed on the dangerously ill list

Private Howard Wesley Silverthorn died of his shrapnel
wounds while at the casualty clearing station and was buried in the nearby
Bruay Communal Cemetery, Bruay, France
Following the war, the British War Medal and
Victory Medals were sent to his brother, Fred Silverthorn, Bolsover, Ontario
The Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny) and Scroll were
sent to his brother, James Silverthorn, Bolsover, Ontario
There was no Memorial Cross issued
