The 2nd Regimental Draft embarked the SS Scotian in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Disembarked in Liverpool, England and the draft was absorbed into the 7th Reserve Battalion in Seaford to continue training

 

Feb 15, 1918

Transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

 

Aug 9, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Aug 15, 1918

After leaving the base depot, Private Simpson joined the 21st Battalion in Fouquescourt, France

 

Aug 26, 1918

During fighting west of the Sensee River, south-west of Vis en Artois, France, Private Simpson received shrapnel wounds to his legs and feet.  He was evacuated to the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid

 

Aug 27, 1918

Transferred to the No. 55 General Hospital in Boulogne, France

 

Aug 29, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship St. Denis

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Lord Derby Hospital in Warrington

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Nov 11, 1918

Transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital in Woodcote Park, Epsom

 

Nov 20, 1918

Attached to the 1st CCD (Canadian Command Depot) in Witley for therapy and exercise

 

Dec 10, 1918

Transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

 

Dec 27, 1918

Attached to Military District No. 3 Wing in Kinmel Park, Rhyl pending return to Canada

 

Jan 11, 1919

Embarked the SS Olympic in Southampton

 

 

Jan 17, 1919

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario where he was Taken On Strength of Military District No. 3 Casualty Company

 

Jan 21, 1919

Granted leave until February 3, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario

Thomas Simpson was only 1 of 4  veterans of the 21st Battalion
that attended the final reunion for the 21st Battalion Association in
Belleville, Ontario in September 1985

 

 

Thomas Andrew Simpson died in 1995 and was buried in the
Belleville, Ontario Cemetery
