Transferred to the 21st Battalion

Arrived at the No. 2 CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Nov 17, 1917

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Villers au Bois, France

 

Dec 2, 1917

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Skinner joined the 21st Battalion in the Suburban Camp at Neuville St. Vaast, France and was posted to “D” Company

 

Sep 17, 1918

Attached to the 2nd Canadian Division Salvage Company for duty

His return date to the battalion was not recorded

 

Dec 13, 1918

The 21st Battalion led the 2nd Canadian Division across the Bonn Bridge to enter Germany as part of the Occupying Force and proceeded to Siegburg

 

 

Apr 3, 1919

Embarked the Western Australia in Havre, France

 

On arrival in England, he was attached to “P” Wing in Witley pending return to Canada

 

Apr 23, 1919

Appointed to the rank of Lance Corporal

 

May 14, 1919

Reverted to the rank of Private and embarked the SS Caronia in Liverpool

 

 

May 22, 1919

Disembarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario by train

 

May 24, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario

Ø  War Service Badge Class “A” issued number 277309

Ø  Proposed residence on discharge Hillier, Ontario

Following his discharge, the British War Medal and Victory Medals were sent to him at Durham St., Port Colborne, Ontario

Samuel William Skinner died in 1962 and was buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Wainfleet, Ontario
