The battalion trained in the Kingston area through the winter with headquarters in the Kingston Armouries

 

Mar 31, 1915

The Transport Section, along with horses and wagons, proceeded to England as an advance party to arrange for the arrival of the full battalion.

The battalion arrived in Devonport, England May 15, 1915 and reunited with the Transport Section in the West Sandling Camp, near Hythe, Kent where the battalion continued training

Posted to “C Company and attached to the Transport Section for duty

 

Sep 4, 1915

Posted to the Regimental Headquarters Staff for employment with the Transport Section

 

Sep 12, 1915

The Transport Section, along with the Machine Gun Section and part of the Signal Section embarked for France as an advance party for the battalion. 

 

Sep 15, 1915

The main body of the 21st Battalion disembarked in Boulogne, France and joined up with the advance party and proceeded to St. Omer

 

Nov 16, 1916

Awarded the Good Conduct Badge

 

Jan 7, 1917

Granted 10 days leave

 

Jan 18, 1917

Rejoined the battalion resting in Calonne, France from leave

 

Aug 9, 1917

Admitted to the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) with a diagnosis that reads Impetigo.  This was later changed to read Tonsilitis.  He was transferred the same day to the No. 10 Canadian Field Ambulance

 

Aug 16, 1917

Transferred to the No. 5 Canadian Field Ambulance and then discharged to duty and rejoined the 21st Battalion fighting at Hill 70, near Lens, France

 

Aug 17, 1917

Readmitted to the No. 4 Canadian Field Ambulance with a diagnosis that reads Acute Tonsilitis

 

Aug 19, 1917

Discharged to duty and rejoined the battalion in billets at Fosse 10, at Dourges, east of Lens, France

 

Dec 8, 1917

Granted 14 days leave

 

Dec 24, 1917

Rejoined the battalion resting in Auch-au-Bois, France from leave

 

Mar 10, 1918

Attached to the CCRC (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp)

Rejoined the 21st Battalion in billets in Wailly, France

 

May 13, 1918

While in the front line trench near Mercatel, France, Private Soicuk received a concussion and was evacuated to the No. No. 6 Canadian Field Ambulance for first aid before being transported to the nearby casualty clearing station.  He was then transported to the No. 16 USA General Hospital in Le Treport, France

 

May 23, 1918

Discharged from hospital and reported to the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples

 

Jul 14, 1918

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St Vaast, France

 

Aug 7, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Soicuk rejoined the 21st Battalion resting near Caix, France

 

Dec 13, 1918

The 21st Battalion led the 4th Brigade across the Bonn Bridge to enter Germany as part of the Occupying Force and proceeded to Seigburg

 

 

Mar 14, 1919

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) and proceeded to England pending transfer to the Military Police

 

Mar 18, 1919

Transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

 

Apr 30, 1919

Transferred to “C” Company, No. 1 Regimental Depot, NBRD (New Brunswick Regimental Depot) in Ripon pending return to Canada

 

May 6, 1919

Embarked the SS Scotian in Liverpool

 

 

May 15, 1919

Disembarked in Montreal, Quebec and proceeded to Kingston, Ontario where was Taken On Strength MD (Military District) #3 for duty with the CMP (Canadian Military Police)

 

Jul 9, 1919

Discharged from the CEF in Kingston, Ontario

Ø  Rank on discharge Lance Corporal

Ø  Entitled to War Service Badge Class “A”

Ø  Proposed residence on discharge c/o Bank of Montreal, Kingston, Ontario
