While in the support lines near Aux Ritz, France, Private Strickland received a slight shrapnel wound to his left elbow and was treated at the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) and rejoined the battalion the same day

He rejoined the battalion in billets in Auchy au Bois, France from leave

 

Jul 9, 1918

Attached to the 6th Battalion Canadian Engineers to be employed as the Batman for Captain Purdy

Transferred to the 6th Battalion Canadian Engineers and his rank was changed to Sapper
