Post war Sgt Trist rose to rank of Major in the 1st Battalion, Winnipeg Grenadiers. Served in the defense of Hong Kong in WW II. He spent 4 years as a POW of the Japanese. I believe he became the Commanding Officer of the Winnipeg Grenadiers while he was held as a POW, as the original CO died while in the camp.
