Ø  Previous military experience given as 5th Royal Highlanders in Montreal and the 15th Regiment, Argyll Light Infantry in Belleville

Ø  Posted to the Transport Section

The battalion trained in the Kingston area through the winter with headquarters in the Kingston Armouries

 

Mar 31, 1915

The Transport Section, along with horses and wagons, proceeded to England as an advance party to arrange for the arrival of the full battalion. 

The battalion arrived in Devonport, England May 15, 1915 and reunited with the Transport Section in the West Sandling Camp, near Hythe, Kent where the battalion continued training

 

Sep 12, 1915

The Transport Section, along with the Machine Gun Section and part of the Signal Section embarked for France as an advance party for the battalion. 

 

Sep 15, 1915

The main body of the 21st Battalion disembarked in Boulogne, France and joined up with the advance party and proceeded to St. Omer

 

May 15, 1916

Granted 10 days leave.  This was then extended by 1 day

 

May 26, 1916

Rejoined the battalion resting in the “B” Camp in Dickebusch, Belgium from leave

 

Nov 7, 1916

Awarded the Good Conduct Badge

 

 

 

Oct 2, 1917

Granted 10 days leave

 

Oct 5, 1917

Married to Christina (Christian) Drury Anderson in Arbroath, Scotland

 

 

Oct 13, 1917

Rejoined the battalion resting in Villers au Bois, France from leave and permission for his marriage was given retroactive to the date of his marriage

 

Nov 1, 1918

Granted 14 days leave

 

Nov 17, 1918

In October of 1918, A/Cpl Robert Troup requested a transfer to the 58th Broad Gauge Operating Company.  This transfer was approved while he was on leave

 

Nov 18, 1918

The transfer to 58th Broad Gauge Operation Company was cancelled as result of the Armistice being signed

 

Nov 20, 1918

Rejoined the battalion in Thieu, Belgium from leave

 

Mar 21, 1919

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) in Seaford, England.  On arrival in England, he was granted leave to prepare for his return to Canada with his wife.

Rejoined the Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot in Seaford from leave

 

May 7, 1919

Attached to CDD (Canadian Discharge Depot) in Buxton pending return to Canada

 

Jun 21, 1919

Embarked the SS Scandinavian in Liverpool with his wife

Disembarked in Quebec City, Quebec and Taken On Strength the Quebec Depot Clearing Services Command

Discharged from the CEF in Quebec City, Quebec
