During a training exercise, Private Wallace was injured in his right leg by the accidental explosion of a Mills Bomb and was evacuated to the No. 5 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the Division Rest Station at the No. 6 Canadian Field Ambulance, Locre, Belgium
