joined the 21st Battalion at the front near Fouquescourt, France

Just 12 days after joining the battalion, Private
William Wycliffe Weller was killed during severe fighting during the advance
on the Sensee River, south-east of Vis-en-Artois, France. His identifiable remains were not recovered
from the battlefield and his name is now recorded on the walls of the
Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Vimy Ridge, France for those killed during
the war in France and have no known grave.
Following the war, the British War Medal, Victory
Medal and Memorial Cross were sent to his mother, Mrs. Laura Weller, Carrying
Place, Ontario
The Plaque (Dead Man’s Penny) and Scroll were
sent to his father, James Weller, at the same address
