During the liberation of the town of Iwuy, France, Private Wessel received shrapnel wounds to his right leg and was evacuated to the No. 9 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the No. 33 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station)

Transferred to the No. 20 General Hospital in Camiers, France

 

Oct 15, 1918

Reported to be seriously ill

 

Nov 8, 1918

Removed from the dangerously ill list

 

Nov 10, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Stad Antwerpen

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Canadian Military Hospital in Colchester

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

Transferred to the No. 16 Canadian General Hospital in Orpington
