Embarked the SS Lapland in Halifax, Nova Scotia as part of the 1st Regimental Draft of the 2nd Depot Battalion, EOR

 

 

Feb 24, 1918

Disembarked in Glasgow, Scotland and proceeded to Seaford, England where the draft was absorbed into the 6th Reserve Battalion to continue training

 

Jun 10, 1918

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 11, 1918

Arrived at the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) in Etaples, France and Taken On Strength of the 21st Battalion

 

Jun 17, 1918

After leaving the base depot, he joined the CC Rein C (Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp) in Aubin St. Vaast, France

 

Aug 7, 1918

After leaving the reinforcement camp, Private Willard joined the 21st Battalion west of Marcelcave, France

 

Aug 28, 1918

While advancing south of the Arras – Cambrai Road, south east of Vis en Artois, France, Private Willard received a through and through bullet wound that fractured his right leg and was evacuated to the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid before being transported to the No. 7 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station)

 

Aug 29, 1918

Transferred via the No. 17 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the 2nd Canadian General Hospital in Le Treport, France

 

Aug 31, 1918

Transferred to the No. 47 General Hospital in Le Treport

 

Sep 14, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Essequibo

 

On arrival in England, he was admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Netley

Transferred to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) for pay purposes while in hospital

 

Oct 26, 1918

Developed Jaundice while in hospital

 

Dec 20, 1918

Transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital in Woodcote Park, Epsom

 

Jan 13, 1919

Attached to the 1st CCD (Canadian Command Depot) in Witley for therapy and exercise

Granted 12 days sick leave

Discharged from hospital care and transferred to the 6th Reserve Battalion in Seaford

During WW II, Charlie Willard served overseas with the PLDG (Princess Louise Dragoon Guards)

Charlie Willard died while a patient of the Kingston General Hospital and was buried in the Blue Church Cemetery, Leeds and Grenville, Ontario
