While in the front line near Voormezeele, Belgium, Private  Wood received slight shrapnel wounds to his cheek and left arm.  He was evacuated to the No. 4 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) for first aid

Transferred to the Division Rest Station to recover from his wounds

Discharged to duty from the rest station and rejoined the battalion resting in La Clytte, Belgium

Donald Reuben Wood died of a Heart Attack in Foleyet, Ontario and was interred in the Wood Family Mausoleum in Smiths Falls, Ontario.  At a later date, a military style grave marker was placed outside the Mausoleum in his honour
