Drew a Remington rifle.  Off in afternoon

 

September 2, 1917

Off all day.  Went to village called Alphiston in evening.

 

September 3, 1917

On PT and CO’s Parade in morning.  On ranges firing in afternoon

 

September 4, 1917

On PT for ½ hour, rested rest of morning.  Cleaning Bed boards and trestles in huts in afternoon

 

September 5, 1917

Drew equipment today.  Started for ranges, turned back.  Cleaning rest of day

 

September 6, 1917

On ranges firing today.  2, 3 & 400 yd ranges.  My birthday today

 

September 7, 1917

On PT and OC’s Parade.  Firing on 5 & 600 yd ranges today

 

September 8, 1917

PT, OC’s Parade and drill in forenoon.  Afternoon off.

 

September 9, 1917

On Church Parade in am.  Me Bob Cleland in 207 Bn

 

September 10, 1917

PT and drill in am.  On Gas drill and Bomb Throwing in afternoon

 

September 11, 1917

PT and Instruction in Gas in am.  On Entrenching in afternoon.  Cleland left for France

 

September 12, 1917

On PT and Gas Drill, also Bayonet drill in am

 

September 13, 1917

Went through gas drill and through Gas.  I did not go through.

 

September 14, 1917

On 6 to 8 mile route march in afternoon.  Got Paid £6 and went to London on leave, arriving there 10.30 pm.  Stayed at Maple Leaf Club, Berkley Square

 

September 15, 1917

In London.  Went out to Epsom to see Daisy, but he was on leave

 

September 16, 1917

In London.  Wired to Camp for extension of 3 days on leave

 

September 17, 1917

In London.  Got my extension

Came back to Seaford on 2.18 pm train.  Pass ends Revellie tomorrow morning

PT, CO’s Inspection and drill in am.  Route march in afternoon

 

September 22, 1917

PT, CO’s inspection, musketry, Bomb throwing and squad and Company Drill in am.  Off in afternoon

 

September 23, 1917

Church Parade at 9.15 am.  Rest of day off

 

September 24, 1917

On range fatigues today.  Walked to ranges in am.  No shooting, came back.  ½ hour Tug of War in afternoon

 

September 25, 1917

On Parade all day.  PT, CO’s Inspection, Musketry, Rifle Grenade throwing.  PM Musketry, Bayonet Fighting, and Gas Drill

 

September 26, 1917

On PT, CO’s Parade, Firing on Miniature Range, Bayonet Fighting and Company drill.  Sports in afternoon

 

September 27, 1917

Parades as usual.  Entrenching for 1 hour in afternoon.  Was on putting up Barbed wire

 

September 28, 1917

PT, CO’s Parade and was put in special platoon for maneuvers

 

September 29, 1917

On special platoon drill, Platoon Advancing, on ranges in am.  Pm off.  Went down to town.

 

September 30, 1917

Church Parade in am.  Wrote letters in afternoon
