Embarked the RMS Lapland at Halifax

 

 

Dec 4, 1915

Disembarked at Plymouth England and proceeded to the Bramshott Camp

 

Jul 1, 1916

Promoted to the rank of Corporal

 

Jul 6, 1916

Transferred to the 39th Reserve Battalion

 

Oct 4, 1916

Reverted to the rank of Private in order to proceed to a fighting Battalion in France 

Transferred to the 21st Battalion

 

Oct 5, 1916

Arrived at the CBD (Canadian Base Depot) at the Rouelles Camp, Havre France and TOS (Taken On Strength) the 21st Battalion

 

Oct 14, 1916

Left the CBD to join the Battalion

 

Oct 16, 1916

Joined the 21st Battalion at Divion France.  The Battalion was in billets there.  He was posted to “D” Company

 

Apr 9, 1917

Appointed Acting Corporal with pay to replace A/Cpl Dack, 412337, who had been killed in action

 

Apr 18, 1917

Promoted to the rank of Corporal to replace Cpl Carruthers 60108, who had been invalided to England after being wounded

 

Aug 15, 1917

Admitted to No 6 CFA (Canadian Field Ambulance) with shrapnel wounds to his face, thigh and hand.  He was transferred the same day to No 6 CCS (Casualty Clearing Station).  Later in the day he was transferred to the 26th General Hospital at Etaples 

The facial wound was to his lower lip which took out several teeth requiring a partial plate

 

Aug 24, 1917

Transferred to the No 6 Convalescent Depot at Etaples

 

Aug 31, 1917

Transferred to the No 11 Convalescent Depot at Buchy

 

Sep 30, 1917

Discharged to duty with the CIBD (Canadian Infantry Base Depot) at Etaples, arriving there October 2nd, and posted to “A” Company for those recovering from wounds and illness

 

Oct 6, 1917

Left the CIBD to join the Battalion

 

Oct 8, 1917

Rejoined the 21st Battalion east of Vimy Ridge

 

Nov 3, 1917           The Battalion moved into the Passchendaele front line

It is apparent from the citation below that it was Cpl Robb who captured the machine gun and used it against German aircraft

It was announced in the 2nd Division Routine Orders #3917 that he was to be awarded the Military Medal

 

Jan 12, 1918

At Westerhem Belgium he was presented with the Military Medal on a Brigade parade by Lieut Gen Sir Arthur Currie, KCB, KCMG

 

Feb 23, 1918

Announcement of the Military Medal per London Gazette #30340

 

 

Mar 6, 1918              From the 21st Battalion War Diary

 

Admitted to the No 6 CFA with a shrapnel wound to his left forearm.  He was transferred the same day to the No 1 CCS

 

Mar 9, 1918

Transferred via the No 16 AT (Ambulance Train) and admitted to the St John Ambulance Brigade Hospital at Etaples

 

Mar 15, 1918

Invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Princess Elizabeth

 

Posted to the EORD (Eastern Ontario Regimental Depot) while in hospital

 

Mar 16, 1918

Admitted to the 1st Western General Hospital at Belmont Road, Liverpool

 

Jun 20, 1918

Transferred to the Military Convalescent Hospital at Bearwood Park

 

Jun 28, 1918

On Command to the 3rd CCD (Canadian Convalescent Depot) at Seaford

 

Aug 29, 1918

Discharged to duty from the 3rd CCD and posted to the 6th Reserve Battalion at Seaford

 

Jun 23, 1919

Embarked the SS Belgic at Liverpool
