Monday, March 1st
  • Went to Barriefield for shooting.
  • Kept up reputation.
  • Pictures with L. Sergt. Smith.
Tuesday, March 2nd
  • Barriefield in the morning and manoeuvres in the afternoon.
  • Received a nice letter from a…
  • More rumours.
Wednesday, March 3rd
  • Barriefield as usual.
  • Portsmouth in the afternoon.
  • Opera in the evening with Sgt. Maj. Davidson , Q. M. Sergt. Fee, and Sergt. Marks.
  • A very enjoyable time
Thursday, March 4th
  • Barriefield as usual and skirmishing in the afternoon.
  • Received photo of Fred in uniform. Quite fine.
  • Billiards in the evening.

Friday,
March 5th

  • Barriefield as usual.  Shooting good.
  • Visited Penitentiary.
  • Played billiards with Sergt. Maj. Davidson, Sergt. Smith, and also Sergt. Mainguy.
Saturday, March 6th
  • Paraded at Armouries.
  • Distribution of prizes for sports.
  • Saw on placards, about 2nd Contingent arriving in England.
  • We are still here.
Sunday, March 7th
  • Divine Service at Armouries.
  • Paraded Princess Street.
  • Went to St. George’s Church in the evening with  Sergt. Edmunds.
Monday, March 8th
  • Skirmishing at Barriefield.
  • Presented with prizes at Armouries in the afternoon.
  • Went to Pictures with Sergt. Murphy and had a good time.
Tuesday, March 9th
  • Shooting in Armouries and at Barriefield.
  • Beat Sergt. Jealous by 3 points.
  • Skirmishing in afternoon.
  • Picutures in evening at Opera House.
Wednesday, March 10th
  • Marched ten miles-weather very dirty-plenty of mud.
  • Pictures in evening with Q. M. Sergt. Fee and Sergt. Smith-a very enjoyable time.
Thursday, March 11th
  • Fetched deserter from Millbrook and stayed at Renfrew-a very pretty town.
  • Beat Chief of Police at billiards.
  • Sentence 28 days…
Friday,
March 12th
  • Returned from Renfrew.
  • Beat Sergt. Smith at billiards.
  • Went to the Opera House in the evening and had a very fine time.
Saturday, March 13th
  • C.O.’s parade in the morning.
  • Wrote letters in the afternoon.
  • Opera in the evening with Sergt. Marks, Sergt. Smith, and Sergt. Maj. Davidson.
Sunday, March 14th
  • Paraded for Divine Service at 10:00AM in Armouries.
  • Went to St. Paul’s Church in the evening and heard a very fine sermon.
Monday, March 15th
  • Shooting at Barriefield and skirmishing in the afternoon.
  • Pictures in the evening with Q.M. J. Fee, and Sergt. Murphy.
Tuesday, March 16th
  • Shooting at Barriefield.
  • Outpost duty in afternoon.
  • Opera in the evening with Sergt. Jealous and Sergt. Smith.
Wednesday, March 17th
  • Skirmishing at Portsmouth.
  • Received letters from England.
  • More rumours about going.
Thursday, March 18th
  • Musketry in the Armouries.
  • Minature shooting.
  • Pictures in evening.
  • Received eight letters.
Friday,
March 19th
  • Shooting at Barriefield.
  • Concert at the Cereal Works in the evening by the Y.M.C,A Band-(dandy.)
Saturday, March 20th
  • Skirmishing in the morning and a march around town in the afternoon.
  • Played Sergt’s Right Half- football, Lost 6 to 1.
Sunday, March 21st
  • Armouries at 10:00AM.
  • Proceded to St. Jame’s Church-very impressive service.
  • Received nice letters.
Monday, March 22nd
  • Marched to Barriefield.
  • Sgt’s dinner and smokes at the British American Hotel.
  • Had a dandy time.
Tuesday, March 23rd
  • Musketry at Barriefied.
  • Loading and unloading, etc.
  • Griffin’s in evening with Sergt. Jealous.
Wednesday, March 24th
  • Barriefied as usual.
  • Portsmouth in the afternoon.
  • Billiards and Pictures in the evening.
Thursday, March 25th
  • Route march along Lake past Penitentiary.
  • Reconnoitered by Col. Hughes
  • Pictures in the evening.
Friday,
March 26th
  • Marched to Barriefield.
  • Musketry & skirmishing practices.
  • Billards in the evening: QM Sergt.Fee & Sergt. Smith playing Sergt. Jealous and I.
Saturday, March 27th
  • Marched along shores of the Lake.
  • Ice cracking up.
  • Half day’s holiday-saw transports off.
  • Opera in the evening.
Sunday, March 28th
  • Divine Service at St. Paul’s at 10:00AM-very fine.
  • St. George’s in the evening.
Monday, March 29th
  • Shooting at ranges.
  • Just a few more rumours about going to England.
  • Pictures in the evening.
Tuesday, March 30th
  • Usual physical drill and Battalion drill.
  • Inspected by Brigadier Colonel Denison.
  • Pictures in the evening.
Wednesday, March 31st
  • March around town and afternoon off.
  • Still wondering about mail.
